In the heat of the night
Sirens rang loud
And streetlights beamed halogen rays
Upon my sweated brow,
As I laid my stress
To rest for the night.
Helplessness fell upon my tired mind
Like it always did,
While my wandering thoughts
Flashed the life I’ve lived;
Heartaches and pain,
Barely any financial gain,
But plenty of “Ghetto Footsteps”
That I have named.
