In the heat of the night

Sirens rang loud

And streetlights beamed halogen rays

Upon my sweated brow,

As I laid my stress

To rest for the night.

Helplessness fell upon my tired mind

Like it always did,

While my wandering thoughts

Flashed the life I’ve lived;

Heartaches and pain,

Barely any financial gain,

But plenty of “Ghetto Footsteps”

That I have named.
